Secrets of the Mind:
An Online Conference
January 21-26, 2001
To
unlock a door some sort of key is needed. We will also want a reason to go
through the open door. To unlock the secrets of your mind, a key is also needed.
The key here is some sort of spiritual practice, a 'key' forged not of metal and
fire, but of experience and desire for a more meaningful life. Many people today
seem to see this opening of the mind toward spirituality, toward inner peace, as
a personal goal. And it's true that the early 'evidence' of the effects of
spiritual practice may turn your attention toward your own self. This may
include a deeper sense of happiness and awareness, more effectiveness and joy in
your daily life and better all round health. These are some of the secrets of
the mind, that non-physical organ that is perhaps the most pervasive aspect of
our being. If you are serious about
spiritual practice, then deeper secrets eventually show themselves: the unity of
all beings, for example. And it doesn't take much analysis to understand that
this feeling, this awareness, will eventually demand from us a sense of social
responsibility. The rights and needs of all living beings thus become part of
your responsibility and true fulfillment.
The Winter
2001 issue of New Renaissance magazine explored the topic, Secrets of
